Who Does What

Scripture:

5 Who is Apollos, and who is Paul, that we should be the cause of such quarrels? Why, we’re only servants. Through us God caused you to believe. Each of us did the work the Lord gave us. 6 My job was to plant the seed in your hearts, and Apollos watered it, but it was God, not we, who made it grow. 7 The ones who do the planting or watering aren’t important, but God is important because he is the one who makes the seed grow. 8 The one who plants and the one who waters work as a team with the same purpose. Yet they will be rewarded individually, according to their own hard work. 9 We work together as partners who belong to God. You are God’s field, God’s building—not ours. (1 Corinthians 3:5-9 NLT)

Paul was saying, “I have a part in what God is doing, and I will do that part and let others, like Apollos, do their part.” Are we working for the same purpose? Do we think that we can do it all? Who is it about? It can be so easy to forget that it is not about us! We are to do our part, do it well, and then let God finish the work through others if he chooses. As Paul says, “It is God’s field, God’s building – not ours.”

Father, thank You first of all that You chose to use us, Your children, to do Your work here on earth. Help me, remind me to do what You have given me to do, and to do it well, and then be content to let others do what they have been given to do. You are my God, and I love You. AMEN

Father, I am happy because I fear You and follow Your ways! My life is rich and I thank You for my children and my grandchildren. Psalm 128
