No Need To Compare

Scripture: 25 Since we are living by the Spirit, let us follow the Spirit’s leading in every part of our lives. 26 Let us not become conceited, or provoke one another, or be jealous of one another. (Galatians 5:25-26 NLT) 4 Pay careful attention to your own work, for then you will get the satisfaction of a job well done, and you won’t need to compare yourself to anyone else. 5 For we are each responsible for our own conduct. (Galatians 6:4-5 NLT) “Do not compare” is what Paul says here, and yet we live in a world that is forever putting up comparisons to us. There are TV ads, magazines, billboards; they are all saying that you can look as good as this person, you can do as much as that person. But God tells us that we each have our own work, and that the only one we should be trying to be like is God’s Son, Jesus. It is so easy to get caught up in this trap; even in church! Galatians 6:4-5 is one of the verses that I read often. It reminds me that it is my responsibility to do the creative best I can with my life, and not to compare myself with others. I have been given my own work to do. Lord, I want this to be more than just words on paper. I do want to more and more be in a place where I do what You put before me, and not worry about what others do or don’t do. I declare that I will do my own work. Thank You, Jesus. AMEN God, You are a judge who is perfectly fair. I thank You because You are just. I will sing praise to the Name of the Lord. Psalm 7
