They Did Not Understand

Scripture:

Jesus: 13 “It is written, “My house will be a house of prayer for all people ,” but you have turned this house of prayer into a den of robbers”. 14 Then the blind and the lame came to the temple, and Jesus healed them. 15 Rings of children circled round and sang, “Hosanna to the Son of David.” But the priests and scribes didn’t understand. When they saw the upturned tables, the walking paralytics, and the singing children, they were shocked, indignant, and angry, and they did not understand. (Matthew 21:13-15 The Voice)
Did the priests and scribes want to understand? Probably their positions, wealth, and what they thought was best kept them from really opening their hearts to understand. They had ideas of how the Kingdom of God should look like, and were blind to what was right before them. How many times might this be true for me, for you? We build a picture in our minds of how something should look, should work, and really become blind to anything else. 10 Fear of the LORD is the foundation of true wisdom. All who obey his commandments will grow in wisdom. Praise him forever! (Psalm 111:10 NLT) Lord God, I do not want to be blind to the reality of Your truths. I want to have a heart that is open to honest understanding. Continue to help me grow. Thank You. AMEN All You do, God, is just and good. Your commandments are trustworthy and forever true. They are to be obeyed faithfully. Psalm 111
