How Valuable

Scripture:

26 But don’t be afraid of those who threaten you. For the time is coming when everything will be revealed; all that is secret will be made public. 27 What I tell you now in the darkness, shout abroad when daybreak comes. What I whisper in your ears, shout from the housetops for all to hear! 28 “Don’t be afraid of those who want to kill you. They can only kill your body; they cannot touch your soul. Fear only God, who can destroy both soul and body in hell. 29 Not even a sparrow, worth only half a penny, can fall to the ground without your Father knowing it. 30 And the very hairs on your head are all numbered. 31 So don’t be afraid; you are more valuable to him than a whole flock of sparrows. (Matthew 10:26-31 NLT)

Jesus has been preparing his disciples for what is to come. It was all too hard for them because their perception of what the Kingdom of God should look like did not fit in with all He was telling them. But Jesus was also concerned with their personal well-being, and wanted them to know how much God cared about them. This brought to mind something that someone shared with me awhile back that was so encouraging! It is great to be reminded of the love and care that God has for me; for each of us.

Thank you, God, that You care for us, and that You are willing to take the time to let us know how valuable we are. You know me, You know my name, and my address. I love You, and You are my hope, and my strength. AMEN

Father, I thank You for Your commandments. They are trustworthy, and forever true, and to be obeyed faithfully and with integrity. Praise Your name forever! Psalm 111
