We Should Be Examples

Scripture:

11 Teach these things and insist that everyone learn them. 12 Don’t let anyone think less of you because you are young. Be an example to all believers in what you teach, in the way you live, in your love, your faith, and your purity. 13 Until I get there, focus on reading the Scriptures to the church, encouraging the believers, and teaching them. (1 Timothy 4:11-13 NLT)

Paul is talking to Timothy as a father would talk to his son. He tells him that just because he is young does not mean that he is not an example. How many times did I tell my daughters that they did not have a choice of whether they were examples? Their choice was, to be good examples or bad. The same is true, so true, for me!

Here are some ways that Paul says that Timothy (or Jean) should be a good example about:
• In what I teach, say, instruct
• In the way I live; with honesty, consistency, rightness
• In my love; is it real?
• In my faith; do I act on what I trust and believe?
• In my purity

Lord, I know that You want me to live my life in such a way that others will see You in me, and will want to live a life of faith. Help me as I go through my days to keep that in my sight. I love You, and You are my strength, and my healing. AMEN

When I look at the night sky and see the work of Your fingers – the moon and the stars You have set place – what are mortals that You should think of us, mere humans that You should care for us? Psalm 8
