His Father Saw Him Coming

Scripture:

20 “So he returned home to his father. And while he was still a long distance away, his father saw him coming. Filled with love and compassion, he ran to his son, embraced him, and kissed him. 21 His son said to him, ‘Father, I have sinned against both heaven and you, and I am no longer worthy of being called your son.’ (Luke 15:20-21 NLT)

Here was this son who had done everything wrong: asked for his inheritance early, spent it all on foolish living, and yet in the end, came to his senses and returned home. The amazing thing is that his father was waiting and watching for him, and saw him from a long distance. He loved him, and was so glad to have him back! Two things I think about when I read this story: first that my heavenly Father would be watching and waiting for me always, and second how I would feel if one of my children strayed away. I know that I would just be so glad to have them back that I would only want to love them, and love them some more. I need to remember that the Father’s love for me is even greater than my love for my children.

Today Lord, I acknowledge Your complete love for me. Thank You. I love You. AMEN

I will wait quietly before my God, for my hope is in Him. I trust Him at all times and pour out my heart to Him as my refuge. Psalm 62
