A Gift Too Wonderful!

Reading:  2 Corinthians 9; Psalm 30

Thank God for his Son—a gift too wonderful for words!  (2 Corinthians 9:15 NLT)

At the end of this clear and powerful instruction and explanation of how giving actually works in God’s Kingdom Community (2 Corinthians 8 and 9) Paul just sort of bursts out in an expression of gratitude to God!  Paul thanks God for the gift of love, the gift his Son, Jesus Christ, that makes Everything Possible!

All of this would be mere principles and practices without the Gift of God’s Son to give us new life, and through him, the gift of God’s Spirit to indwell us and to teach us and to guide us and to empower us!

It all comes down to Jesus!

3 The law of Moses was unable to save us because of the weakness of our sinful nature. So God did what the law could not do. He sent his own Son in a body like the bodies we sinners have. And in that body God declared an end to sin’s control over us by giving his Son as a sacrifice for our sins.  (Romans 8:3 NLT)

God did what the law could not do! He sent his own Son to be like us, to be us, and to give himself as a sacrifice for our sins!

Thank God for his Son—a gift too wonderful for words!

Prayer:

Father, Thank you for the gift of your Son—a gift too wonderful for words! Amen!
