Learned Obedience

Scripture: 7 When Jesus was on the earth, a man of flesh and blood, He offered up prayers and pleas, groans and tears to the One who could save Him from death. He was heard because He approached God with reverence. 8 Although He was a Son, Jesus learned obedience through the things He suffered. 9 And once He was perfected through that suffering He became the way of eternal salvation for all those who hear and follow Him, 10 for God appointed Him to be a High Priest in the order of Melchizedek. (Hebrews 5:7-10 The Voice) It seems to be true for us as well that we learn about obedience to the ways of God more when we are in trials and struggles. Why is that? I believe that we tend to lean into God more at those times. We can get a bit slack in our dependence on God when things are going well for us. Father, help me to stay close to You when things are going well in my life and not just when I am struggling or in a trial of some kind. I will daily thank You and seek Your help and guidance. AMEN Lord, I have chosen to be faithful; I have determined to live by Your truths. Continue to teach me, and I will follow Your principles. Psalm 119
