Joy At His Success

Scripture:

27 John replied, “God in heaven appoints each person’s work. 28 You yourselves know how plainly I told you that I am not the Messiah. I am here to prepare the way for him—that is all. 29 The bride will go where the bridegroom is. A bridegroom’s friend rejoices with him. I am the bridegroom’s friend, and I am filled with joy at his success. 30 He must become greater and greater, and I must become less and less. (John 3:27-30 NLT)

John was an amazing man! He lived a simple life, and had one purpose in life; to prepare the way for the coming Messiah. He did not try to be anything else. And he did not allow anyone to expect him to be anything but what he knew God had appointed him to do. I want/need more of the humble spirit that John had. I want to be satisfied with the work that God has appointed me to do. I am delighted when I see those we have influenced and trained doing more than we did; there is genuine joy in that for me.

Lord, I ask for more of a humble spirit; more joy at the success of others. Thank You for using me at various times, and in various situations. I pray that You will give us more and more opportunities to work with others for You. I love You. AMEN

Father, thank You that You are the one who will work out all the plans for my life. Your faithful love endures forever. Psalm 138
