Guard Your Heart

Scripture:

34 “Be careful that you never allow your hearts to grow cold. Remain passionate and free from anxiety and the worries of this life. Then you will not be caught off guard by what happens. Don’t let me come and find you drunk or careless in living like everyone else. 35 For that day will come as a shocking surprise to all, like a downpour that drenches everyone, catching many unaware and unprepared. 36 Keep a constant watch over your soul, and pray for the courage and grace to prevail over these things that are destined to occur and that you will stand before the presence of the Son of Man with a clear conscience.” 37 Each day, Jesus taught in the temple, and he spent his nights on the Mount of Olives. 38 And all the people came early to the temple courts to listen to the words he taught. (Luke 21:34-38 The Passion)
Jesus continues to tell those who are listening to Him what is going to happen. The key here is the word to guard our hearts. It can be so very easy to let the cares and worries of life become bigger than our belief in who we know God to be. Another phrase that caught my attention in reading this portion of scripture is, “He spent His nights on the Mount of Olives.” Why? It was His way of staying in tune and alert to His Father. What is my way, what is your way? We must have a way, a time to help with guarding our hearts. Thank You, Father that You are always close and available to me. I want to always guard my heart from the cares and worries of life. AMEN Lord, let this be my life’s motto, the truth I live by: I will guard my ways for all my days. I will speak only what is right, guarding what I speak. Psalm 39
