Reading: Deuteronomy 10-12; Mark 16

12 So now Israel, what do you think God expects from you? Just this: Live in his presence in holy reverence, follow the road he sets out for you, love him, serve God, your God, with everything you have in you, 13 obey the commandments and regulations of God that I’m commanding you today—live a good life. (Deuteronomy 10:12-13 MSG)

Keeping it simple: Moses summed up all the laws, commandments, teachings, and guidelines for the people as they were getting ready to enter the land. The classroom section of the course was completed. Now it was time to apply what they had learned.

What God Expects From You:

• Live in his presence in holy reverence.
• Follow the road he sets out for you.
• Love him.
• Serve him with everything you have in you.
• Obey the commandments he gives you.
• Love others because God loves you.

This will result in a good life!

Micah said it this way many years later: “But he’s already made it plain how to live, what to do, what God is looking for in men and women. It’s quite simple: Do what is fair and just to your neighbor, be compassionate and loyal in your love, And don’t take yourself too seriously— take God seriously.” (Micah 6:8 MSG)

Jesus summed it up this way: “Love God with all you are and have and love others as you love yourself.”

Father, I am once again reminded that your way is not complicated. I will keep it simple and live what I believe. I will honor you, respect others, and follow the path you set for me. I want my life to please you and to count for eternity. Amen.
