What A Wonderful God!

What A Wonderful God!

Reading: Proverbs 13-15; Romans 11 33 Oh, what a wonderful God we have! How great are his riches and wisdom and knowledge! How impossible it is for us to understand his decisions and his methods! 34 For who can know the Lord’s thoughts? Who knows enough to give him advice? 35 And who has given him so much that he needs to pay it back? 36 For everything comes from him and exists by his power and is intended for his glory. All glory to him forever! Amen. (Romans 11:33-36 NLT) Technically, this is a doxology – an expression of praise to end a section of writing. Experientially and emotionally, this is an outburst of the overflow of Paul’s heart. Paul was a follower of Christ and a lover of God, and right in the middle of explaining some of the most difficult theological issues of his time and ours, he simply exploded with praise and worship and adoration of God! Recently a friend and his wife came to our house so he could help me with some home repairs. When we finished, we enjoyed a good dinner Jean had prepared, and then we relaxed and talked about life for a while. As we talked about the challenges both couples of us are facing, the conversation moved from concern over our challenges to thankfulness for our blessings. We found ourselves simply and from the heart thanking God for being such a great God and for being so good to us! In the midst of responsible attention to life’s challenges, I don’t want to ever lose the sense of wonder and awe at God’s goodness and greatness and kindness! How about you? What are some of the “Wonderfulnesses” of God in your life? Prayer: Father, Thank you for being such a wonderful God! I know your wonderfulness is who you are and that you don’t put on wonderfulness just for me. But I am a beneficiary of your wonderfulness and I declare today that I am thankful. You’ve given me a good life. Thank you. What a wonderful God you are! Amen.
