Until Later

Reading:  1 Timothy 5; Psalm 129

24 Remember that some people lead sinful lives, and everyone knows they will be judged. But there are others whose sin will not be revealed until later. 25 In the same way, everyone knows how much good some people do, but there are others whose good deeds won’t be known until later. (1 Timothy 5:24-25 NLT)

Some things are just obvious, aren’t they? Some people seem to be “getting away with it” and we could waste precious time and energy wondering why God doesn’t do something about it. He will! In his time, at the right time, he will. And it won’t only be those whose sin is obvious, but those whose sin is hidden and who remain unrepentant to the end. God will take care of that “later.”

Don’t worry about it!

Some people get all the credit they deserve and then some for the good they do! And they don’t seem to mind taking credit for other people’s work if they can get away with it! Then there are others working quietly behind the scenes whose labor of love and personal sacrifice for the work of the Lord and the good of others goes unnoticed.

God’s promise: Their good deeds will be known “later” when God himself honors them and rewards them eternally for what they have done!

Don’t worry about it!

It all comes down to this: We either believe that what happens in eternity is what really counts or we don’t. The world (along with its desires and distractions) is very much with us and if we’re not careful we can get caught up in it all and forget who we are and where we’re going and what really matters in the long run.

Don’t worry about it!

Prayer:

Father, Thanks for the reminder and the assurance that I don’t have to maintain the balance of justice in the universe, and that you will take care of that. Help me to contend for justice for those who can’t speak up for themselves and to trust you to take care of the rest. Amen!
