Peace With God

Peace With God

Reading: 1 Kings 9; 2 Chronicles 8: Psalm 136; Romans 5 Therefore, since we have been made right in God’s sight by faith, we have peace with God because of what Jesus Christ our Lord has done for us. (Romans 5:1 NLT) This morning I read and re-read Romans 5:1-11 and let it sink into my mind and soul. I hope you can take a few minutes and read these verses through slowly, at least once, right now. Here’s what I thought about as I read this message of hope from Paul:

Vs 1: The war is over! We have peace with God. God is not our enemy, but our ally and protector. No anxiety, no fear. Instead, real peace of mind and heart!
Vs 2: We have the incredible privilege of a personal relationship with the God of the universe! This relationship is a gift completely undeserved but joyfully received.
Vs 3-4: By faith in Jesus and trust in God our Father, we can understand the benefit of tough times and situations as they make us stronger and deepen our faith.
Vs 5: God sent his Holy Spirit to live inside us and fill us with his love – love to receive and love to give others.
Vs 6-7: He is always right on time, according to his plan and according to our need.
Vs 8: How great is his love for us? He sent his Son to die for us while we were still sinners! That’s how much he loves us!
Vs 9: No more condemnation! We are redeemed, not condemned! We are right in God’s sight! We are not awaiting judgment, we are enjoying relationship!
Vs 10-11: Once we were God’s enemies because of our sin, now we are God’s friends because of his redeeming love! What then should we do? Love God, Love others, and live a life of freedom in Christ! I hope that your soul is nourished by these thoughts. May you experience God’s peace and his friendship throughout this day! Prayer: Father, Reading this has refreshed my soul today. A song we used to sing at church, “I Am A Friend of God” keeps running through my mind. I know you have always been and always will be my friend. Thanks for allowing me to be your friend through Jesus Christ. Please help me and my friends to translate these profound truths of redemption into practical thoughts, words, actions, and emotions as we go through our day. Amen.
