Never Give Up

Reading: 1 Corinthians 1; Psalm 115 8 And not only that, but God himself is right alongside to keep you steady and on track until things are all wrapped up by Jesus. 9 God, who got you started in this spiritual adventure, shares with us the life of his Son and our Master Jesus. He will never give up on you. Never forget that. (1 Corinthians 1:8-9 MSG) Paul was about to deal with some very difficult issues in this letter to the Corinthian church. He was going to have to write about division and conflict, and would even confront sexual sin in the church. Not an easy letter to write! Not an easy letter to read! But Paul loved these people and this church so much he was willing to take a risk to try and help them. He didn’t give up on them! The amazing thing about God’s work in us and in the church is that even when things are pretty messed up—even when we are pretty messed up—God still works in us, with us, and through us! God still carries on the process of change, and God will never give up on his people. God will never give up on us! God is with you and me right now. He’s right alongside to keep us steady and on track. God got us started on this life of faith and keeps on working in us and with us, and most amazingly, working through us! Never forget that! God will never give up on you! Never forget that! God will never give up on me! Never forget that! God will never give up on us! Never forget that! Prayer: Father, Thank you for staying alongside me to keep me steady and on track. Work in me. Work with me. Work through me. Accomplish the purpose for which you called me. I know you won’t ever give up on me! I know you won’t ever give up on my friends who are reading this today, and wondering if you’ve given up on them. You haven’t! Thanks for the assurance from your Word and by your Spirit that you will never give up on us. May we never forget that! Amen.
