Life Is A Journey

Life Is A Journey

Reading: 1 Peter 1-5 Your life is a journey you must travel with a deep consciousness of God. It cost God plenty to get you out of that dead-end, empty-headed life you grew up in. (1 Peter 1:18 MSG) My life is a journey. God, in his great love, found me wandering aimlessly and started me on this journey to God Knows Where! He got me free from the prison of where I was and gave me the privilege of the journey to where he is. This journey is no walk in the park! Parts of my journey will test my endurance and try my patience. Parts of my journey will fill me with delight and restore my soul. My journey includes hills and valleys, rivers to cross, rest stops, and intersections where I must choose my course as if my life depended on it! Because it does, you know! It’s so important to develop and maintain a deep God-awareness on the journey or I’ll constantly forget what I’m doing and where I’m going. And sometimes I’ll even forget that my life is a journey and that the journey is my life! Recently, I’ve seen some signposts that confirm I’m on the right road and at the right location. But I’ve also been reminded that I’m simply at a location on the journey and not at the destination. Fellow-traveler, whether you’re on a snowy mountaintop, in a sunny meadow by a gently-flowing stream, or in a dark and lonesome valley, don’t forget who you are and where you’re going. Don’t mistake your present location for your journey’s destination! Keep traveling! Prayer: Father, Help me and my friends to be faithful travelers. I know that sometimes I’m like a kid in the back seat asking, “Are we there yet?” I know we’re not there yet. Please help me fully experience, enjoy, and appreciate my present location, but keep on reminding me this isn’t the destination. Help me and my fellow-travelers to travel well. Amen.
