In Him Who Is True

Please celebrate with me! Today’s devotional marks completion of fifteen years of GraceNotes Daily Devotionals sent out by email every single day!

20 And we know that the Son of God has made our understanding come alive so that we can know by experience the One who is true. And we are in him who is true, God’s Son, Jesus Christ—the true God and eternal life! 21 So, little children, guard yourselves from worshiping anything but him. (1 John 5:20-21 TPT)

We know by experience the One who is true. By simple faith and the new birth, we are in him who is true! Let us keep his commandments to love, and let us worship him who alone is the Way, the Truth, and the Life!

This year we’ve journeyed through Matthew’s Gospel of the Kingdom and through John’s Gospel of Love and Light. After completing our slow walk through John’s Gospel, we had 26 days left in the year and I felt the need to keep hearing John’s voice as we completed our journey, so we finished with John’s first letter to the churches.

As I read the verses and wrote the thoughts for each day, I made the effort to apply them to my life, and as I wrote the prayer I made it the prayer of my own heart! I’ve learned a lot, but this hasn’t been an academic exercise.

This journey through Matthew’s and John’s Gospels has changed me on the inside, friends! Some things I used to think really important in my commitment to live a life of faith in Christ have moved down the priority list. Other things I previously took lightly are right up top of the priority list now. The adventure of the life of faith continues!

GraceNotes will continue starting tomorrow, January 1, 2024. I’ll be sharing some topical devotionals to begin the year’s readings and we’ll see what we can discover about living the life of a disciple of Jesus as we move through the year together.

I invite you to stay with me as we begin a new year in God’s Word tomorrow morning! I welcome your comments, thoughts, insights, and questions. I’d love to hear from you!

So much thanks to everyone who has clicked the “Donate” button in the daily GraceNotes email this year and helped support us in this ministry! We couldn’t keep GraceNotes going around the world every day without you!

Prayer:

May the Grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all. In Jesus’ Name!
