In Him Who Is True

GraceNotes – A Journey of Discovery
Celebrate with me! Today’s devotional marks completion of ten years of GraceNotes! That’s 3652 Daily Devotionals! Ten years! Every! Single! Day!
20 And we know that the Son of God has made our understanding come alive so that we can know by experience the One who is true. And we are in him who is true, God’s Son, Jesus Christ—the true God and eternal life! 21 So, little children, guard yourselves from worshiping anything but him. (1 John 5:20-21 TPT)
We know by experience the One who is true. By simple faith and the new birth, we are in him who is true! Let us keep his commandments to love, and let us worship him who alone is the Way, the Truth, and the Life!
Friends, we began a Journey of Discovery together on January 1, 2018. We’ve journeyed through Matthew’s Gospel of the Kingdom and through John’s Gospel of Love and Light. After completing our slow walk through John’s Gospel, we had 26 days left in the year and I felt the need to keep hearing John’s voice as we completed our journey, so we finished with John’s first letter to the churches.
It’s not been an easy journey for me. As I read the verses and wrote the thoughts for each day, I applied them to my life, and as I wrote the prayer I made it the prayer of my own heart! I’ve learned a lot, but this hasn’t been an academic exercise.
This Journey of Discovery has changed me on the inside, friends! Some things I used to think really important in my commitment to live a life of faith in Christ have moved down the priority list. Other things I previously took lightly are right up top of the priority list now. The adventure of the life of faith continues!
GraceNotes will continue tomorrow, January 1, 2019. I’ll be sharing some devotionals from the “Through The Bible In A Year” plan I’ve used before, and updating and revising them in light of the things I’m still learning from a year in Matthew and John’s Gospels.
I invite you to stay with me as we begin a new year in God’s Word tomorrow morning! I welcome your comments, thoughts, insights, and questions. I’d love to hear from you!
May the Grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all. In Jesus’ Name!
