Hold Tight

Hold Tight

Reading: Isaiah 15-18; Hebrews 10 23 Let us hold tightly without wavering to the hope we affirm, for God can be trusted to keep his promise. 24 Let us think of ways to motivate one another to acts of love and good works. 25 And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near. (Hebrews 10:23-25 NLT) I’m thankful that there’s so much in the Bible about how to deal with delay, opposition, obstacles, and challenges. First, I’m thankful to know that God has made a way for me to get through the hard things I face in life. Second, the fact that the Bible has so much to say about dealing with difficulty and delay shows me that I’m not the only one who ever faces these things! Here’s a couple of things that stand out to me today:
• Once I’ve made my declaration of faith in God, I’ve got to hold on to that faith when there is delay, opposition, and discouragement. If I hold on, I’ll make it, because God can be trusted. God can be trusted!
• While I’m waiting for the promised answer from God, I’m to be active, not passive. Even when I’m in need, I’m to be loving and caring for others and cheering others on to live in hope and love and service.
• This Christian life is not intended to be lived all by myself. Each of us is designed for community – for regular and frequent interaction with other Christ-followers. We are encouraged and encouragers in the family of faith. Hold tight to your faith in a God who can be trusted to do what he promised! Don’t try to live your life all by yourself. Stay busy doing what you can to help others along the way, and find a few good faith-friends you can do life with. Love and be loved, encourage and be encouraged, bless and be blessed. It’s how God intended it to be!

Prayer: Father, Thank you for being the God who can be trusted to do what you promised. Your faithfulness is the anchor of our souls in the storms of life. Help me and my friends to hold on tight to that truth. Help us to keep busy serving and loving others, and guide us into those relationships in which we can be an encouragement to others and be encouraged ourselves. By your grace, I know we can make it! Amen!
