Don’t Worry, Instead Choose Trust (DW7)

Scripture: Psalm 56:3-4; Psalm 112:7; Proverbs 3:5-6; John 14-3 1 “Don’t let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God, and trust also in me. 2 There is more than enough room in my Father’s home. If this were not so, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you? 3 When everything is ready, I will come and get you, so that you will always be with me where I am. (John 14:1-3 NLT)

Over the past few days, we’ve built a case for Not Worrying, but there are few, if any, things we’ve addressed that we didn’t already know:

• Don’t Worry, Instead Pray
• Don’t Worry, Instead Release Your Worries to God
• Don’t Worry, Because God Will Provide
• Don’t Worry, Because God Loves You
• Don’t Worry, Because Heaven Awaits So now, we make a choice! We know we worry and we know that worrying is a waste of time and energy and is unhelpful to us in a lot of ways. So now we choose faith! We choose to believe and we choose to trust! We have a basis for making our choice to believe and to trust: God’s Word, the stories of others, and our own experience. So now we choose to put in place some simple practices to implement our choice to believe and to trust. Go back through the devotionals in the Don’t Worry series. Choose a scripture or scriptures. Commit it to memory. Write it on a card. Put it on your phone screen. When worry and anxiety whispers doubt and fear, we’ll reply with God’s Word. We’ll learn to be patient with ourselves, Just as our Good God is patient with us!
• 3 But when I am afraid, I will put my trust in you. 4 I praise God for what he has promised. I trust in God, so why should I be afraid? (Psalm 56:3-4 NLT)
• They do not fear bad news; they confidently trust the LORD to care for them. (Psalm 112:7 NLT)
• 5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. 6 Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take. (Proverbs 3:5-6 NLT) Prayer: Father, Thanks for your Word which produces faith and overcomes our fears. We choose to trust you when worries come. May your Holy Spirit make your Word alive in our hearts and real in our minds. Lead us daily in our journey to freedom. Amen!
