Show Mercy

Scripture: 11 When those known as the Pharisees saw what was happening, they were indignant, and they kept asking Jesus’ disciples, “Why would your Master dine with such lowlifes?” 12 When Jesus overheard this, he spoke up and said, “Healthy people don’t need to see a doctor, but the sick will go for treatment.” 13 Then he added, “Now you should go and study the meaning of the verse: I want you to show mercy, not just offer me a sacrifice.” For I have come to invite the outcasts of society and sinners, not those who think they are already on the right path.” (Matthew 9:11-13 The Passion) Mercy is compassion poured out on those who are needy. Jesus wanted the people of His time, and us today, to see the needs of those we come in contact with before we try to fit them into some rule or regulation. First see the need, and then do what needs to be done as much as possible. “How satisfied you are when you demonstrate tender mercy! For tender mercy will be demonstrated to you.” (Matthew 5:7 The Passion) Trying to by step mercy by giving sacrifices is not what God wants from us. Father, I so want to grow in showing mercy; to see needs and not judge what I may consider as wrong. Help me to look with eyes of mercy. You have shown me so much mercy and care. I love You. AMEN Yes Lord, blessing after blessing comes to those who love and trust the Lord. You think of us all the time with your countless expressions of love – far exceeding our expectations! Psalm 40
