You Know Me

Scripture:

20 What more can I say? You know what I am really like, Sovereign Lord. 21 For the sake of your promise and according to your will, you have done all these great things and have shown them to me. (2 Samuel 7:20-21 NLT)

David woke up one morning full of appreciation and thanks to God. His kingdom was established, Israel was enjoying unprecedented security and prosperity, and David felt like the King of the World! He was so thankful for all God’s blessings he wanted to build God a house – a magnificent Temple.

God spoke to him through Nathan, his resident seer and listener and said, “David, I don’t need you to build me a house. Instead, I’m going to build a house – a lasting dynasty – for you!”

At that, David’s gratitude overflowed in a prayer of praise and thanksgiving. David said, “Sovereign Lord, I’m speechless! You know what I am really like, and yet you bless me!”

I can’t tell you how many times that realization washes over me. God knows what I am really like and yet he loves me! God knows what I am really like and yet he blesses me! God knows what I am really like and yet he uses me! For the sake of his promise and according to his will he has determined a future and a destiny for me! What more can I say?

Prayer:

Father, I am humbled and filled with gratitude for your grace. The realization that you know what I am really like and yet you love me, bless me, and use me is overwhelming and unreasonable! I again offer myself to your service. May I be a reflection of your grace. Thank you for loving me, blessing me, and using me. What more can I say? Amen.
