Whatever He Wants

Whatever He Wants

07 January 2009

Reference(s): Luke 1:38

Scripture

Mary responded, “I am the Lord’s servant, and I am willing to accept whatever he wants.  May everything you have said about me come true.” And then the angel left. (Luke 1:38 NLT)

Observation and Application

The angel Gabriel, God’s own messenger, appeared to Mary, a young Jewish girl living in the remote village of Nazareth in the hills of Galilee.  His message to her was humanly unbelievable and if true, and if she accepted it, would change not only her own life, but all of history.

I don’t know how long it took – moments or minutes – but Mary heard the message, processed it, believed it, and accepted it.

How I desire a quick and simple faith like Mary’s!  I’m looking ahead into a year filled with promises, and possibilities.  Also filled with unknowns and uncertainties.

Prayer

Father, my prayer today is kind of a mix of Mary’s declaration of faith, “I am your servant.  I am willing to accept whatever you want.  May everything you have said about me come true.” and the statement of the father who was asking Jesus to heal his son, who said, “Lord I believe.  Please help me with my doubts!”  Bottom line, whatever you want.  May everything you purpose for me come true.  Amen.
