Reference(s): Luke 6:43-45
43 “A good tree can’t produce bad fruit, and a bad tree can’t produce good fruit. 44 A tree is identified by the kind of fruit it produces. Figs never grow on thornbushes or grapes on bramble bushes. 45 A good person produces good things from the treasury of a good heart, and an evil person produces evil things from the treasury of an evil heart. What you say flows from what is in your heart. (Luke 6:43-45 NLT)
Observation & Application
This scripture always makes me stop and think; a lot really. What is in my heart? Can I listen to myself and what I say and know that the treasury of my heart needs some more good things put in and some bad things discarded? Stop and think before I speak. Be careful of the words that I use; they cannot be taken back. If I can learn more and more to keep good things in the treasury of my heart, I can be more confident of the words that I speak.
Lord, I want to fill the treasury of my heart with thoughts of you and your faithfulness. I want to consistently clean the treasury of my heart from thinking about hurt, disappointments, and misdeeds of others. Help me to work on this more and more. I love you. AMEN
