Tired Hands - Shaky Legs

Tired Hands - Shaky Legs

14 December 2009

12 So take a new grip with your tired hands and stand firm on your shaky legs. 13 Mark out a straight path for your feet so that those who follow you, though they are weak and lame, will not stumble and fall but will become strong. (Hebrews 12:12-13 NLT)

It seems as if life’s greatest challenges come not when we’re rested and ready, but when we’re already tired and shaky. God says, “Take a new grip with your tired hands. Stand firm on your shaky legs.”

That’s faith – pure and simple.

• Pure and simple faith is what it takes to grab the rope with tired hands and keep pulling.
• Pure and simple faith is what it takes to plant your sore feet and lean into the storm on shaky legs.
• Pure and simple faith is what it takes to put one foot in front of the other and stay on a straight path when you’re weary from the journey and God is only giving you light for one step at a time.

We don’t really need Superheroes as examples to follow. Superheroes don’t have tired hands, they’re stronger than a locomotive! Superheroes don’t have shaky legs, they’re faster than a speeding bullet! Superheroes can use their SuperSight to see the path and they never have to stumble along in the dark! Who can measure up to that?

We just need to be Christ-followers who take a new grip with tired hands and stand firm on shaky legs and walk a straight path in simple faith. That’s what will give hope to those who follow us. We’ll be the tired and shaky examples leading an army of weak and lame warriors to victory through simple faith in Christ!

Father, I know that there are a lot of your Christ-follower kids who want to follow on the right path, but sometimes they feel really weak and weary. Help me and those of my spiritual generation not to try and be “faster than a speeding bullet, stronger than a locomotive” superheroes, but to be “New grip, stand firm, and walk straight” examples to them. Amen.
