This Is Our God

This Is Our God

14 July 2011

Reading: Isaiah 25-28; Hebrews 13

Scripture:

In that day the people will proclaim, “This is our God! We trusted in him, and he saved us! This is the Lord, in whom we trusted. Let us rejoice in the salvation he brings!” (Isaiah 25:9 NLT)

This is one of my “Verses for Daily Reading,” a group of verses that God has used to specially speak to me through the years. I’ve printed these verses out and keep them inside the front cover of my Bible. As I begin my devotional reading and journaling each morning, I read these verses first, then my readings from Psalms and Proverbs: (Click Here), then my reading (see above) from the Life Journal Reading Plan: (Click Here)

I encourage you to begin to collect scriptures that God uses to instruct, encourage, or inspire you and read and re-read them for the health of your soul. They become like daily vitamins for your soul’s well-being and for your life of faith.

This verse reminds me every day that:
• God is my God. He’s not a distant God, he’s not merely someone else’s God, he’s my God and he cares for me.
• I trusted in him, and he saved me. I trusted him for my soul’s salvation and he saved me from destruction. He has saved me from my own foolishness, he has saved me from loss and danger, and he continues to be my daily and eternal Savior.
• This is the Lord, and he’s my Lord. This God, my God, is also the boss of my life. I’m under his authority and accountable to him for my thoughts, words, and actions. His authority is for my good and his yoke is easy.
• I will rejoice in the salvation he brings! Each day, this verse helps me reflect, remember, and rejoice thankfully in all he has done for me.

This is our God, dear friends! We trust in him and he saves us! Let us rejoice in the salvation he brings!

Prayer:

Father, Thank you for being our God. Thank you for your salvation – past, present, and future! You are worthy of our confident trust and our willing obedience. We rejoice today in your salvation. Amen and Amen!
