Praying For You

Praying For You

15 June 2009

9 So we have continued praying for you ever since we first heard about you. We ask God to give you a complete understanding of what he wants to do in your lives, and we ask him to make you wise with spiritual wisdom. 10 Then the way you live will always honor and please the Lord, and you will continually do good, kind things for others. All the while, you will learn to know God better and better. 11 We also pray that you will be strengthened with his glorious power so that you will have all the patience and endurance you need. May you be filled with joy, 12 always thanking the Father, who has enabled you to share the inheritance that belongs to God’s holy people, who live in the light. (Colossians 1:9-12 NLT)

I did it again! A few days ago, on June 7, I prayed a prayer for you from Paul’s letter to his friends in Ephesus (Ephesians 3:14-21). This morning, I did it again! I prayed a prayer for my wife and kids and my grandkids, for my friends, for my extended family, for missionaries, pastors, and leaders. And I prayed for everyone who receives this GraceNotes evotional or who will receive it forwarded from a friend or who will hear these thoughts in a Small Group, or read it on my blog or web site. A Prayer For YOU!

My Prayer for YOU Today:

Father, I pray this prayer of blessing for everyone who reads these words today. As I speak these words out loud, I speak them as a blessing to the reader…

• May God give you a complete understanding of what he wants to do in your life and may he make you wise with spiritual wisdom (Not worldly wisdom). That way you will live a God-honoring, God-pleasing life of doing good and being kind to the people around you, and you’ll get to know God better every day.
• May God strengthen you with his glorious power so you will be patient and won’t panic or freak out and you won’t say and do things you’ll regret, and that you’ll be strong in faith and character so you can endure hardship for as long as it takes.
• May you be filled with Jesus’ joy and may his joy in you overflow in thankfulness (how you feel), in thanksgiving (how you talk), and in speaking faith-filled words that encourage and strengthen those around you.
God knows we all need encouragement as we face life’s challenges!

Spoken on your behalf today, in the Name of Jesus. Amen.
