Paul Noticed Him

Paul Noticed Him

07 February 2009

8 While they were at Lystra, Paul and Barnabas came upon a man with crippled feet. He had been that way from birth, so he had never walked. 9 He was listening as Paul preached, and Paul noticed him and realized he had faith to be healed. (Acts 14:8-9 NLT)

When Paul looked at people, he saw them not only with natural eyesight, but with spiritual eyesight. He was sensitive to each person as an individual and not just as part of a crowd. Paul could tell where someone was in their journey of faith.

I want to see people like Paul saw them. I want to grow in my love for people so I never see them as just part of the crowd or as people with problems. I want to look at people with spiritual eyesight and see where they are in their journey of faith – what they need and what they are ready for.

Father, I ask for a greater ability to fully focus on each person I encounter. I want to notice each person as an individual and look them in the eye – to see through crowds to individuals and through eyes to hearts. Please give me grace and wisdom to know what people are ready for and what to do and say to help them most. Amen.
