Reference(s): Luke 4:20-22
20 He rolled up the scroll, handed it back to the attendant, and sat down. Everyone in the synagogue stared at him intently. 21 Then he said, “This Scripture has come true today before your very eyes!” 22 All who were there spoke well of him and were amazed by the gracious words that fell from his lips. “How can this be?” they asked. “Isn’t this Joseph’s son?” (Luke 4:20-22 NLT)
How sad this is, but how true it is as well. When someone is known by family and those that they relate to on a daily basis, it seems to be hard to also recognize how God might use them in communicating the love of God or in teaching and preaching even.
I don’t want to fail to see how God might use people in powerful ways just because I know them and wonder how it works for them. God is still God and can use those he desires to use and in ways he desires to do it.
Give me an open heart to be able to see others used as your instrument of love and power and not pass judgment just because I know them and know that they are not perfect. I am not perfect and do not have the right to judge. I want to let you be God. You are good and you are faithful. AMEN
