A Prayer For You

A Prayer For You

07 June 2009

14 When I think of the wisdom and scope of God’s plan, I fall to my knees and pray to the Father, 15 the Creator of everything in heaven and on earth. 16 I pray that from his glorious, unlimited resources he will give you mighty inner strength through his Holy Spirit. 17 And I pray that Christ will be more and more at home in your hearts as you trust in him. May your roots go down deep into the soil of God’s marvelous love. 18 And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love really is. 19 May you experience the love of Christ, though it is so great you will never fully understand it. Then you will be filled with the fullness of life and power that comes from God. 20 Now glory be to God! By his mighty power at work within us, he is able to accomplish infinitely more than we would ever dare to ask or hope. 21 May he be given glory in the church and in Christ Jesus forever and ever through endless ages. Amen. (Ephesians 3:14-21 NLT)

My time with the Lord led me on a little different path this morning. As I read Paul’s prayer for the believers in Ephesus, I began to think how good it would be if someone prayed a Holy-Spirit inspired prayer for me today. And what if I prayed such a prayer for my wife, my kids, my extended family, and for everyone of the hundreds of people who will read this GraceNotes Evotional today?

So here’s the deal… I prayed this prayer for you this morning. What if you took the time to pray this prayer for your spouse, your kids, your extended family, your small group, your church, your pastor and leaders, your friends who are not Christ-followers (yet), for anyone the Father brings to mind. How about it? And please, if you have stories that proceed from praying this prayer, let me know!

Father, I pray this for my family and friends:
• May you give them inner strength through your Holy Spirit.
• May Christ be more and more at home in their hearts each trusting day.
• May their faith-roots go down deep into the soil of your marvelous love.
• May they all, by your Spirit’s power, understand the incredible scope of your love.
• May each of my friends experience your beyond-understanding love today.
• May we all be filled with the fullness of life and with power to live for you today.
• May you, Father, be glorified as your power at work in us accomplishes more than we could imagine, ask, or hope for!
