Scripture:
41 Jesus sat near the Temple money box and watched the people put in their money. Many rich people gave large sums of money. 42 Then a poor widow came and put in two small copper coins, which were only worth a few cents. 43 Calling his followers to him, Jesus said, “I tell you the truth, this poor widow gave more than all those rich people. 44 They gave only what they did not need. This woman is very poor, but she gave all she had; she gave all she had to live on.” (Mark 12:41-44 NCV)
Observation:
How many of us have done as this widow did and give all we have? So many times we are more likely to give only what we think is enough. Jesus praised this widow and gave us the opportunity to see that it is not the amount we give so much as how we give.
Application:
Giving and giving from the heart is such a privilege. Many times it is not the giving of money that is needed, but the giving of time, of yourself for others, of practical service.
Prayer:
Thank you first of all, Lord, for all that you have given so that I can have life with you. Thank you for the privilege of giving and for the joy that giving brings. I love you. AMEN
I will praise the Lord at all times; his praise is always on my lips. My whole being praises the Lord. Glorify the Lord with me. Psalm 34:1-3
