Don't You Understand

Scripture:
16 His followers discussed the meaning of this, saying, “He said this because we have no bread.” 17 Knowing what they were talking about, Jesus asked them, “Why are you talking about not having bread? Do you still not see or understand? Are your minds closed? 18 You have eyes, but you don’t really see. You have ears, but you don’t really listen. Remember when 19 I divided five loaves of bread for the five thousand? How many baskets did you fill with leftover pieces of food?” They answered, “Twelve.” 20 “And when I divided seven loaves of bread for the four thousand, how many baskets did you fill with leftover pieces of food?” They answered, “Seven.” 21 Then Jesus said to them, “Don’t you understand yet?” (Mark 8:16-21 NCV)
Observation:
Jesus must have had times of such frustration with his disciples. Here they had just seen him do another great miracle with loaves and fishes and now they were arguing over the fact that they had forgotten to bring food. Don’t you understand yet?
Application:
I wonder how often Jesus might be saying that to me. Don’t you understand that I love you? Don’t you understand that I care what is happening? Don’t you understand that I want to provide for you? Don’t you understand yet?
Prayer:
Help me to open my eyes so that I see more clearly and to open my ears so that I hear more clearly. I so want to know and understand better each day your love, your care and your provision. Thank you for helping me. AMEN
You are my God, and I will thank you and praise your greatness. I will thank you because you are good. Your love continues forever. Psalm 118:28-29
