Tell Your Story

Scripture:

18 As Jesus was getting back into the boat, the man who was freed from the demons begged to go with him. 19 But Jesus would not let him. He said, “Go home to your family and tell them how much the Lord has done for you and how he has had mercy on you.” 20 So the man left and began to tell the people in the Ten Towns about what Jesus had done for him. And everyone was amazed. (Mark 5:18-20 NCV)

Observation:

Here in Mark 5 we once again come back to the theme of stories. After Jesus had healed the madman of Gerasenes, he wanted to go with Jesus. Jesus said to him, ‘Go home to your own people. Tell them your story’. Later as Jesus was on His way to pray for Jairus’ daughter, He had the encounter with the woman that had condition of hemorrhaging for twelve years. After she touched Jesus’ robe and was healed, she certainly had a story to tell. Then we come to the home of Jairus and the scripture tells us that the gossips were all around looking for a story.

Application:

So my question for me today is; do I have a story to tell? How and when have I been touched by Jesus and what is my story? Am I willing, even eager to tell my story, or am I just hanging around looking for a story about other people.

Prayer:

Jesus I want to tell my story. You have so touched me and my family in so many ways. We have so many answered prayers; so many adventures with you. Help me to be more willing to tell my story which is really your story. I love you. AMEN

Lord, I want to be humble before you and let you teach me your ways for they are loving and true. My hope is in you. Psalm 25:9-10, 21
